'We book classrooms so we can have good discussions'
"We now have two meetings per week on campus. Most people I know only have one meeting per week. I do benefit from that, since I can go to the VU, meet my classmates and have discussions with them. These are things I cannot do on Zoom; online classes are just not the same. I also make use of the option the VU gives to book a classroom. This is very useful for the mathematics students. It gives us a computer and a chalkboard to write on. We book these rooms so we can have good discussions with other mathematics students.

I recently went to Amstelpark and I was surprised to find alpacas there. Usually at the park you would find other animals, like pigeons. I also went to the Amsterdamse Bos with some friends. It was so beautiful there with all the autumn colours. We actually wanted to go to a museum, but we all agreed that it wouldn’t be such a good idea because of corona. The day before the second lockdown, we decided to go to a pancake restaurant in the Amsterdamse Bos. I tried pancakes for the first time, I really liked them. I knew crêpes, but these were very different

There are only a few things you can do to get outside during this lockdown. Going to parks is very nice of course, but it’s not the same as what we used to be able to do. We were planning to have a picnic in the park, but it has been raining so much."
